About Us

The Historical Society Museum/Research Center relocated and opened in January 2024 at Hays School, 1 Maple Street. Treasures collected and maintained by the East Haven Historical Society are expertly displayed throughout two large former classrooms at the school. Artifacts range from all types of iron hand tools, for farming and boat building, to an exquisite wedding gown from the 1800's. The Museum/Research Center is open every Wednesday from 10 am to 1 pm and the first Saturday of each month, also from 10 am to 1 pm.  Admission is free and donations are gratefully accepted.

Spend a morning immersed in the History of East Haven at the Museum/Research Center.  In the Center of Town, enjoy taking a leisurely walk around out beautiful Town Green and enjoy the many monuments there, then visit the Old Cemetery across the street.  Also, treat yourself to a trolley ride at the Shoreline Trolley Museum located a short distance down River Street and on Main Street, across from the Town Hall, is the First Congregational Church, known as the Old Stone Church, built in1772-1774.
